I know I say this every month, but this year is flying by so fast. I feel like every time I look up I'm writing a new monthly post and watching the year pass by. The good news is that the weather is warmer and I'm gearing up for some summer travels. I've caught up with old and new friends in the past month which has been awesome; everyone is doing such big & bold things and I couldn't be more proud to have such cool ladies in my life. If you're catching my drift, this year has been good to me so far with this past month being a huge highlight. I've also discovered some good stuff to share with you all this month so get pumped!
One | Moana
Oh my god, you guys. This movie is so good. I'm a skeptic about new Disney movies so I'm a little late to the game on this one, but dang it, it's good. Moana is becoming one of my favorite Disney princesses. Her story is one of the only Disney princess movies that doesn't involve a romance plotline (I still see you Brave, and I love you too). Moana is an independent, fierce, and family-loving young woman who goes on a journey to find herself and save her family & village. I especially like the fact that she is going to be chief of her village - girl power. Not to mention, the soundtrack is FIRE. I have listened to it on repeat for like the past two weeks at work.
Two | Game of Thrones
You all had to know this would make a comeback, especially if you follow me on Instagram (@madsmuses, hint hint). I tried to take a break between the third and fourth books in the series to draw them out longer but I couldn't control myself and started on the fourth book two weeks ago. I'm addicted. If you're into fantasy/romance/weird-almost-historical-fiction then you should definitely read this series. George RR Martin is a baller.
Three | Beauty & The Beast
Okay, okay, this may have been on last month's Musings of the Month but I saw the film and I loved it. It was everything I could have hoped for in a remake of my favorite Disney movie. Emma Watson was the perfect Belle (clever, fiery, independent, & loving). The other characters were present, too, from Chip to Cogsworth to the little dog/footstool. My friend Anna & I especially liked Madame de Garderobe - the wardrobe. She was freaking hilarious and had us laughing out loud. They kept all of the original songs but added in a few more that add to the depth of the characters. The cool thing about this movie is that you get so much more information and background on the characters. If you haven't figured it out by now, I love, love, love this movie and think you should go see it.
Four | Personal posts
I've been more personal on the blog this year (see here & here) and the feedback I've gotten from you guys is amazing. I think it's so important to put my feelings out there, as seen in this post. Starting conversations on important topics - and seemingly unimportant topics, too - is crucial to getting people involved in significant occurances. Seeing others' views is equally as important. I'm going to continue posting personal essays so if there's a topic you'd like to hear my opinion on I'd be glad to do a write-up! Just submit a contact form here.
Five | Mae Woven Pom Pom Market Bag
I am so obsessed with this straw bag for spring! The navy blue pom poms are adorable and it's the perfect tote for vacation or casual spring gatherings. With our summer vacation plans just about finalized (eek! I'll post about that soon) I might just have to snag it. ;) If you haven't checked out Mae Woven before, you definitely should. They have a really cool Etsy shop as well as a website full of unique items. Browse their website here.
