Debuting my natural hair, woohoo! Call me a nineties kid but I'm so pumped that denim skirts are back! These babies were a staple in my wardrobe in middle school and while questionably styled then, they have now become perfect for a casual day at brunch with friends or for going out on the weekends. It's all in the styling. This combination I'd literally wear anywhere.
Denim skirts can get real weird real quick if you let them. I try to keep this one toned down and under the radar by pairing it with staple pieces in my closet. This is a go-to tactic of mine for all of my trendier pieces like jumpsuits, chokers, and off-the-shoulder tops. They become the focal point of an outfit when paired with classic pieces instead of becoming a trend overload when paired with other trendy items.
This styling tip is awesome, too, because it allows you to keep a consistent wardrobe. I used to be obsessed with buying on-trend items, wearing them a couple of times, and then ditching them when they fell out of trend. By purchasing limited trendy items, like denim skirts, and styling them multiple ways with items that I'll keep forever, I'm able to shop more sustainably than had I purchased a closet-full of items I'll only wear a handful of times. I choose pieces that fit into my classic wardrobe knowing that they'll complement my current items.

I've heard some majorly mixed reviews about denim skirts, and trendy items in general. What are your thoughts on buying clothes like this? Let me know in the comments below!
