Long time, no see, friends. I've been MIA here for quite some time now. I logged in to my site's account with the original intention of deleting this blog altogether. I thought, "If I'm not giving it the time it deserves, why bother?" After giving myself a minute to browse my site one last time, I realized I couldn't part with it just yet. Creating this nook took courage, time, energy, & passion, and I received so much from it in return. I no longer want it to disappear, I need it to redirect.
Happy Monday, y'all! Things have been pretty busy over my way with school, my new teaching job (eek!), moving, and some fun stuff with friends squeezed in, too. With the busy-ness that I typically detest, I've realized that I'm reaching for the same several items when heading out of the house, and a good, solid bag that I can simply grab and go has been one of those reachable things.
Life update: I've decided to go vegetarian. For a time a least. My whole life I've been an animal lover. I grew up on a dairy farm (with farmers who loved their animals, but that's a post in and of itself), loving my cows, helping to raise farm dogs, and taking care of kittens that would get dropped at the farm. For as long as I can remember, I've been drawn to any and all animals.
Traveling like a local and not so much like a tourist is always a goal of mine when visiting a new location, whether that be a new city down the interstate or a new country across the Atlantic. When I'm in a new place, I constantly wonder what life might be like living there (because who knows, maybe I will be!). Cultures differ greatly from region to region, and the only way to fully understand the way another lives is to do it yourself.
We leave for New Orleans tomorrow morning and I am so excited for another summer adventure. Packing for this trip has been a challenge - there's so much I have to bring! We're staying in NOLA two nights, so I needed to pack for a couple of days there, plus five days of cruising, including days we'll be going on excursions, and one nice outfit for dinner. Shew. It was a lot of thinking + buying + mixing + packing + repacking, but I think I've narrowed down my list to include the items pictured in the image posted above.
Our trip to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina came and went too fast. We've been back for a couple of weeks and are gearing up for our next adventure in Mexico with Carnival Cruises! To get excited for our upcoming travels, I wanted to share the icon of HHI: the Harbour Town lighthouse. During our last night on the island, Michael and I had a wind-down evening over at Harbour Town with dinner, live music, and a stroll around the grounds. It was the perfect way to end our vacation.
Last week we spent five days on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina with some good friends. We had such an amazing time at the pool, soaking up the sun, hanging out on the beach, and eating some delicious seafood. My absolute favorite part of our trip, though, was our day in Savannah, Georgia. I had never been to Savannah prior to our trip so I was really excited, and in this case reality exceeded my expectations.
