Recently I was thinking about my previous travels, all that I've learned from them, and what I wished I could teach other people about them. The truth is that I've learned so much from my travels, from small, unnoticeable changes to large, life-changing moments that I'll keep with me forever. As you know, travel has played a pretty large role in my life; I've seen the ups and downs, the positives and negatives, the happies and sads. During this particular session of nostalgia, I went through all of the above. And while brainstorming, a couple of thoughts stuck out to me. To me, these are pretty valuable things to keep in mind when you're traveling, whether that be internationally or domestically.
The South of France is essentially what Pinterest lives and breathes for: picturesque beaches, quaint buildings, and colorful flora. It is peaceful & beautiful, but what intrigued me most was its connection to art. After visiting several villages & cities in the region, it's not hard to see why so many creatives are drawn there.
The Biltmore Estate has been on my bucket list since childhood – I was a very historically intrigued kid. My childhood dreams came true this past February when Michael and I decided to venture to the mansion for Valentine’s Day. He was living in Charlotte, North Carolina at the time, and it only took a couple of hours to venture to Asheville from his apartment so we thought, why not?
Being the history nerd that I am, I knew that I had to visit Munich, Germany during my time in Europe. Bavaria, regional home to Munich, has so much history to explore that you could spend much longer than three days in the area sightseeing. The three days we did spend, however, were filled with a considerable amount of exploration & excitement.
Traveling is my absolute favorite thing about my life. I love to travel - the adrenaline rush of visiting a new place gives me a feeling of awe that I just can't explain. But even the most wanderlust-crazed people like me get the travel slumps. As it stands right now, it's been a couple of years since I've left the country; that's a huge bummer for someone who hits their highest highs while on an international adventure. Between college graduation and pursuing a full-time job, there hasn't been much time for me to travel.
Even without endless opportunities to travel, I'm always on the hunt for a new destination to add to my ever-expanding bucket list. I've often been told I'm a dreamer with my head too high in the clouds, but I intend to continue dreaming by endeavoring to explore. Gaining travel inspo is my way to do just that.
I'm breaking into the fashion realm... this could be scary. But in all sincerity, I get stumped sometimes when it comes to packing for a place I've never been. I had no idea what I was doing when I packed a bag for Seattle, and let me tell you, my bag was full of stuff I never wore. Knowing what I know now, there are so many things that I took this go 'round that I wouldn't pack again. I do have some good news, though: some of the items I took were perfect!
As I write this, there are two months, four days, twenty-two hours, eight minutes, and thirty two seconds until I board a plane bound for Edinburgh, Scotland… but who’s counting? ;) Once these two months and some change are up, Michael & I will be traveling to Scotland to travel the country via road trip, beginning and ending in Edinburgh with stops in Stirling, Falkirk, the Isle of Skye, Inverness, Aberdeen, & St. Andrews.
