I've been pretty sucked into the Game of Thrones & Outlander series of novels recently, but that doesn't mean I haven't read other books! I love reading about a variety of topics, from educational policy to science fiction to romance to memoirs. Right now, I'm on a kick to find feminist/social policy/out-of-my-normal-bubble books, and I wanted to share a few of the ones I've read in the past with you.
The weather has been on the colder trend in NKY lately, but I'm not giving up bare legs just yet; I've been compromising by pairing booties with midi skirts. I don't feel like we've had a real winter here in Kentucky yet, so I'm bracing for the worst, and preparing myself to retire this skirt until the spring weather rolls around. Until then, though, I'm keeping it in my rotation.
A new year means new travel plans! I've been trying to put together a few trips for the upcoming year with family, friends, and Michael. We went big last year (I mean... Scotland!) so we're going to turn it down a little this year, save some money, and stick to this side of the pond. But you know what that means - next year we're going big! Right now, only one of our hopeful endeavors is absolutely happening, but I'm going to do my best to follow through on all of them.
Our last stop during our time in Scotland was in the legendary St. Andrews. In the past couple of years, Michael has gotten really into golf so when we decided to go to Scotland, visiting St. Andrews was a no-brainer. Walking the Old Course was Michael's one big request for the trip so we immediately booked the tickets and incorporated it into our planning.
2017 has been here for a couple of weeks and I've had some time to mull over what goals I have for the new year. I'm not really one for New Years Resolutions, but tend to lean more towards "objectives." Resolutions seem so set in stone, and can make ya feel guilty if you happen to fall off of the bandwagon. So objectives it is. This year, I set some personal objectives that I hope to accomplish or at least work towards during the upcoming year. In thinking of these objectives, I want them to be things that I want to do instead of feeling like obligations or work. Here's to a happy, healthy, adventurous new year.
2017 has been here for a few days, and since I started back at work things have been so busy! I start a new semester of graduate school this week (eek!) and have been catching up from being out of a routine for almost two weeks. I enjoyed spending the beginning of the new year at home, but am so glad to be back on schedule.
A new series & a new year, hooray! Since finishing Mad's Muses' first ever series last month I've missed sharing my favorite ideas & things so I decided to start a new indefinite series called Musings of the Month. Through this series, you'll be able to see kind of what's on my mind for the upcoming month, whether that's a book I plan to read, a dress I want to purchase, or a trip I'm planning. There are so many good things coming about in 2017 and through Musings of the Month I hope to share some of them with you. :)
