It's Friday Eve! This has been a looong week and I am so glad that it's almost the weekend. For once, we don't have any plans for this weekend and I'm looking forward to just hanging out at home with a few brunches and dog park trips squeezed in, too. :)
This Thursday I wanted to give you the inside scoop to a few of my newest favorite things like I did in this post a little while back. I go on spurts where I get really excited about something (the summer season in this situation) and go a little crazy over new items for said "something." I knew I was going to be traveling to a few destinations this season so I figured I should invest in some new goodies for them.
I recently found myself feeling pretty blah about my makeup routine after I colored my hair a brighter blonde for summer. My black liner looked so harsh against the cool tones in my hair and it didn't feel like me. My foundation was also feeling drab so I decided to switch things up a little. I normally use Clinique everything, but a blogger that I follow (Molly of Fashion Veggie), who specializes in vegan fashion, beauty, and foods, gives updates on cruelty-free makeup lines and Clinique wasn't one of them. I was pretty shocked to find out that their mother company still tests on animals. That was the final straw in my search for a new foundation - I immediately went to Molly's list of cruelty-free products and found that a super cheap, quality brand was right under my nose.
ELF is extremely affordable (much more so than Clinique), they don't test on animals, and they're amazinggg at all of the current makeup trends like highlighting, dewy looks, and matte lips. I already used their primer and thought I would test out their foundation while I was on the lookout - after all, it's only about $6. I was astounded by how much I liked the product. Even Michael, who normally can't tell the difference between foundation and eye-shadow, could see a difference in my skin after trying their acne fighting foundation. I'm obsessed. I also picked up their HD Lifting Concealer which works much better than the brand I was previously using. Lastly, since my eye-liner was too dark for my new hair, I grabbed NYX's retractable eye-liner in brown. They're also a cruelty-free brand and the eye-liner is perfect for my lighter hair.
I went a little overboard on my recent hauls at Madewell, J. Crew, and Old Navy - whoops! I found so many good summer items, though, just in time for warm weather to roll in. This season is already pretty warm so I've been bringing out my shorts and tanks already. With several summer trips coming up, I wanted to invest in some summery pieces that would be perfect for warm-weather travels. Here's to more warm, gorgeous weather this summer!
