2016 was so, so good to me. I started a new job in a fantastic new city, officially moved away from home and have my very own place (still blows my mind I'm a real grown up!), started Mad's Muses, and have learned so much about myself. Needless to say, I'm just as excited for 2017 as I was 2016.
New travel destinations have been on my mind since we got back from Scotland in August. Since we got back, I've been brainstorming locations that are more affordable, and I've also been thinking on how to make our next trip even more of a money-saver than Scotland. It's no joke that travel costs money, but there's a stigma that says hey, you've gotta be rich to travel, but that's not always the case. Earlier in the year I wrote a post on how I save money in order to travel here; saving money on travel expenses before and during your trip is super important. Here are a couple of tricks + tips I've been implementing to make my next trip a reality.
Yesterday was the first official day of winter! I don't know about the weather where you are, but here in Northern Kentucky the it's starting to get chilly. With the change in seasons, I find myself wanting to curl up with a good book on the couch cozied under a comfy blanket. (This is exactly what a perfect winter would be for me!) With the coming cold also comes a changing wardrobe. Over the past few years, I've attempted to build a classic winter wardrobe with neutral colors and warm fabrics while remaining somewhat stylish. To me, winter style means cozy sweaters, dark jeans, skirts & dresses with tights, and warm boots. The good thing about investing in staples like these is that you're able to wear them year after year, trend after trend.
My little brother is a huge tech lover. He has a million pairs of Beats, touchscreen gloves, and Bluetooth speakers galore. Of course, I wouldn't necessarily buy him these exact items, but he somewhat inspired this board. Technology is growing ever-popular, but even people who aren't that into gadgets could get into these items!
If you're like me, you love decorating your home and always jump at the chance to shop for your own home as well as for others'. Picking out heartfelt home decor pieces for your loved ones and seeing them in their home is always extra special.
I love curling up on the couch with a good book, especially now that my Christmas tree is up, making the living room even cozier. My to-read book list is an extravagant thing. I'll probably never get to all of the works that are on said list; it just keeps growing! Right now I keep a short list and my regular list. The regular list is the compilation of all of the books that are on my radar. My short list contains the books that are must reads in the very near future and are the ones I'm sharing today!
